The earlier Husaberg engines (1989–1996) were known to have premature engine failures due to the fact that they do not have an oil pump and rely on oil delivery from the timing chain. The reliability and quality of the engines have improved over the years and, from 1997 on, have been comparable to that of more established brands.
In 2014 Husaberg will be celebrating not only its 25th anniversary but it will be the last year of the brand. In January 2013 Stefan Pierer, The current CEO of KTM-Sportmotorcycle AG who is also 51% shareholder of KTM AG, purchased 100% stake in Husqvarna AG from BMW through his company Pierer Industrie AG and renamed it to Husqvarna Sportmotorcycle GmbH.
Husaberg Motorcycles is known for its racing 4-stroke dirt bikes, like the FE line, but Husaberg also produces Supermoto street bikes like the FS 650E and FS 650C race-only version with electric start.

New to the model are a 48mm WP closed-chamber fork, close-ratio six-speed transmission, more aggressive ignition settings and a 19-inch rear wheel.
The Husaberg TE 250 is a rugged dirt bike powered by a 1-cylinder 2-stroke, water-cooled engine with reed intake and exhaust control. The engine has a 249 cc displacement and is paired with a six speed transmission.
